Praise for Wings of Ice and Steel:

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wings of Ice and Steel is most certainly on par with bestselling works in the Fantasy Genre.

This story is so original!! In a world where we constantly get the same regurgitated tropes it’s refreshing to see someone rely on plot rather than those tropes to build a compelling story. 

Of course there are a few tropes, such as fated mates and forbidden romance, but these are incorporated into the plot instead of being the main focus of the plot. The plot is riddled with twists and mystery. You walk away knowing exactly who the bad guys are and wishing that good people didn’t buy into that agenda and fall for the lies they are spoon fed. 

A truly captivating story from start to finish. Paterson’s world building is manageable for new readers while also managing to be detailed. Dragons are always cool to read about and the origin of these dragons (varanyen) are so cool! If you love supporting indie authors give this book a read. It’s fantastic!

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Cannot wait for Book 2!

If I had to give this book a one-word summary, I would say compelling. I had a hard time putting this book down between reading sessions. It had me going, night after night, "Just one more chapter!" I became more and more excited for Ariadnne and Nieve's romance as I read along. I mean, come on, who doesn't love two lady knights getting together?! 

The world-building is absolutely wonderful. The main and side characters all have interesting backstories that weave together satisfyingly. The writing is top tier. This feels like a book that should have been picked up by Tor Publishing, honestly. 

The spice in this book is very good. The yearning is adorable. If you like a book where the world (or in this case, an organization) is trying to tear the lovers apart, and they must fight for each other, this is a book for you. If you like your sword fights with a side of elemental magic, pick this book up. If you like dragons or dragon shifters, absolutely read this! 

The overall plot of this book is intriguing, and I can’t wait to see where our characters go next. I enjoyed the book's medium pace and didn’t find it lagging too much. I laughed, I cried, I swooned, and I mourned. And I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on the next installment of this series!

⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Epic Fantasy Filled with Heart and Adventure

From the very first chapter, this story pulled me into a rich fantasy world filled with danger, secrets, and unforgettable characters. The combination of fae, dragons, shapeshifters, and political intrigue created an immersive setting that kept me eager to discover what would happen next. 

Ariadnne is a fascinating heroine. Burdened by a curse and treated as nothing more than a weapon, her struggle for freedom and identity made her easy to root for. Nieve was the perfect counterpart—loyal, courageous, and willing to question everything she thought she knew. Their relationship developed naturally, and the forbidden romance added an emotional layer that made every moment between them feel meaningful. 

The world-building was detailed without being overwhelming, and the mystery surrounding the Guild and the growing threat beyond the wall kept the tension high throughout. I especially enjoyed how the story balanced action-packed battles with quieter moments of character growth, allowing both the romance and the overarching plot to shine. 

With compelling characters, engaging twists, and an intriguing fantasy setting, this was an entertaining read from beginning to end. Fans of epic fantasy, forbidden romance, and strong heroines will find plenty to enjoy here. I'm looking forward to seeing where this world goes next. Highly recommended!
